Private by Design
The personal records you save on SOL are sealed with keys we never hold. Our staff cannot open them, and they do not become SOL Research.
A serious investigation can become personal. A text may change the way you understand an experience. A dream may raise a question you are not ready to share. SOL gives those reflections an encrypted place to live beside the sources you are studying.
A privacy policy can promise that staff will not read stored content. SOL goes further for its named personal records: they are encrypted with keys our staff do not hold. The promise is powerful, but it has edges. Here they are in plain language.
Encrypted before it is saved
Stored chat messages, Dream entries, Journal entries, and personal memories are end-to-end encrypted in your browser before they are saved. They stay sealed in our database with keys SOL does not hold.
We cannot read what is sealed
SOL staff and administrators cannot decrypt those stored personal records. This protection comes from the way the records are encrypted, not merely from a promise that staff will not look.
Your key, your trade-off
Real encryption has a real cost, and we would rather tell you than hide it: if you lose your password and your recovery code, your sealed content is gone. We cannot reset our way into it, because we cannot get into it at all.
The edges are stated plainly
Original chat attachments are not covered by the encrypted-record promise yet. When you deliberately ask an outside AI provider to work with text, that provider must receive the text for that request. SOL names those limits instead of hiding them in fine print.

SOL is more than a place to ask questions about old texts. It lets a personal experience become a careful inquiry without turning your private record into public material.

Keep the record private
Save a Dream or Journal entry as an encrypted personal record. It stays on the private side of SOL.
Step 2
Ask when you are ready
When that option is available and you choose it, ask AI to examine a Dream or continue a Journal entry in conversation. Nothing starts automatically.

Follow the question
Carry the question into Chat, consult Library and Research sources, and use Connections to examine how the evidence and related claims fit together.
Your saved record remains encrypted. If you deliberately send text to an outside AI provider, that provider must receive it for that request. The AI processing map names the services and request boundaries. SOL does not automatically interpret, share, or submit your Dreams, Journal entries, or conversations to Research.
Private records stay separate from SOL Research. The only way your work enters research is when you deliberately prepare a finding and its evidence for submission. The finding—not the Dream, Journal entry, chat, or other private material behind it—is what you submit.
SOL's marketing measurement uses aggregate counts, not the contents of private records. It does not sell member information, show ads inside the product, or run sponsored answers.
None of this is finished, because security is never finished. We audit the boundaries and accept a slower feature roadmap as the price of keeping the promise honest. Account deletion may still require limited legal, accounting, or security records to be retained for a defined period. The formal rules and exact retention boundaries belong in our privacy policy; this page is the plain-language explanation behind it.
Why membership, not advertising
The member is the customer
SOL is designed to be member-funded when paid access opens. Membership will support the source library, the AI and research tools, the privacy infrastructure, and the work of running SOL. That is why paid access is part of the model.
We are not making private inquiry pay for itself by selling member information or placing advertisers between you and an answer. There are no ads inside SOL and no sponsored answers. The business model is plain: members pay for SOL; their attention and private records are not the product.
